Our COVID-19 Response
From 2020-2022, Comunidad responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with creativity and fortitude. Keep scrolling to see how this flexibility in our beginning years allowed us to pivotally adapt in three key ways to real needs in our community. In the midst of a global crisis, community proved to be essential. Today, Comunidad continues to rally our network, providing food, household supplies, and specialty items to families in need.
Monthly Food Distribution
Virtual Classroom Support
Thanks to a partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank, we mobilized our volunteer force to start providing food to over 325 families each month. We continue to run our monthly Food Distribution on the third Saturday of every month
When schools moved to online learning, Comunidad responded to community needs by providing Virtual Classroom Support (VCS). This program ran for 24 months and is currently closed for the school year.
We coordinated rental assistance for tenants living in the state of Virginia. Learn more about the process here.
